The name of the 18th surah of the Qur'an is Surah Kahf. This chapter tells about the escape of a group of young people called Ashab al-Kahf from the cruel rulers and sleeping for many years, by Allah's discretion, after taking shelter in a cave.
In this parable, besides the people called Companions Kehf, they also have a dog named Kıtmir. The dog also slept with its owners for many years. Here, the Kıtmir prayer takes its name from this dog.
